Rolls Royce gaat luxe MINI’s bouwen?

Talk about downsizing! Een aantal zeer betrouwbare bronnen zouden hebben vernomen dat Rolls Royce een reeks van opties voor het exterieur en interieur van de MINI gaat produceren, rechtstreeks uit de Oxford fabriek…
Het is nog niet duidelijk of de opties verwerkt worden in een speciale editie, of dat er een specifiek optiepakket beschikbaar komt. De MINI-fanboys van Motoringfile gokken op het laatste.
Het verhaal is niet geheel ondenkbaar, aangezien zowel MINI als Rolls dezelfde eigenaar hebben (BMW). Ik vraag me alleen af over wat voor soort ultraluxe opties we het hebben. Een MINI-beeldje dat uit de neus omhoog komt? Zo’n geil lederen iPod-hoesje? Een sterrenhemel? You name it!

Rolls Royce is getting into the coach building business in the least likely way. Several highly reliable sources have told us that the company that brought us the opulant luxury of the Phantom and the Drop-Head coupe is going to be creating a series of exterior and interior options to be ordered with MINIs straight from the Oxford plant. It’s also likely these options could be combined into some type of ultra luxury package offered to buyers as part of the standard MINI design process each custom order goes through. It remains to be seen if this is going to be rolled into a special edition or a specific options package but our money is on the unique model..
It’s not hard to imagine what Rolls could do with the MINI by looking at their latest creation the Silver Ghost. And to some degree it makes sense with both MINI and Rolls being owned by BMW AG. However, how all of this is marketed and priced will be the big question. Oh and speaking of price, the old saying probably rings true; if you have to ask how much, you probably can’t afford it.
However if you are interested (at least in the idea) let you dealers know as MINI has instructed them to start taking names and deposits for the very first cars with the Rolls name attached to them. Look for more on this ultra luxury edition of the MINI over the next few days and weeks as we
