Project Lila
After a year of the cars previous incarnation, I planned to sell up and get something with no roof and two seats. However last minute I decided I cant get rid of the S, so it was time for a change, a new look for a new start. I was after a cleaner look to the car, a bit less 'look at me' styling without being boring. Apart from ripping off all the orange there are some more subtle changes that I've done. Its certainly a different look to what I had before, some have called it boring but I think its the shock of it now shouting in your face when you look at it. All the changes were paid for by me selling the the 3 spare sets of wheels and a few other bits I had lying about.
And if your wondering about the project title, Lila is german for purple.
So here it is from the start to today:
The last picture taken of the car as it stood at the end of Project Orange and a good starting place for my new project...

The initial idea was to remove the stripes and leave as is however as everyone knows I change my mind every 5 minutes with the 3 million photoshops I do before making my mind up.
So we began by removing the orange stripe, the plan was to keep the black ones.

Next minute Oli and yaphets are doing this to my car:

Finally we end up with this which pleased them immensely:

The first shot with out the stripes which makes the headlights look very odd:

Next came some paint work, I decided my black door handles, petrol cap and side vents were looking tired so I had these all paint in DS:

Then I fitted a cooper petrol cap:

Then something bad happened, when park the car on a kerb oops:

So the front end needed repairing and painting so I thought I would get the numberplate holes filled in and brakes ducts painted gloss black. It came back like new:

Next came the clutch change with kavs carbon clutch and MINI LSD going in aswell as new guides:
LSD in:

Bell housing cleaned:

Clutch in:

Time to start rebuilding:

While the front end was apart I thought why not stick in some bushes:
Lower engine mount bush:

Gearbox mount:

Steering rack polybushed:

BBS Wheels and new toyo tyres at the powder coaters ready to go, this is a spare set, I still have the black ones:

Now to decide which purple to go for:

Once chose the nod was given and a week later they arrive back, the purple really zings in the sunlight but is impossible to photograph:

While I was there I had the m7 cai cover powder coated black and all the engine strut braces done in purple:

Its a two tone finish:

The rush was on as we were running out of time to get the car finished for MITP the final weekend before we still has all this to go on or in the car:

Including these, matt black rear delete panels from Orranje Performance:

I also sold my driftworks harnesses as they were orange so in came some black sparco harnesses fro track use only:

The previously joey mod had to change, so apart came the headlights:

And then back together with the new black insides:

Off came the brembos to be painted black and replaced by stock s brakes in black for now:

Wheels on the black brakes looked great:

A couple of rubbish pics of the car rebuilt, will get some proper ones when I get time:

Engine bay with purple braces etc:

Black joey mod fitted:

Purple

Matt black Orranje Performance rear panels fitted:

Some better pictures to follow once I can be arsed but the wheels zing much more in person than they do in photographs.
